The Christmas and New Year holidays can be a difficult time for many trans and gender non-conforming people, they could be spending this week alone, without company, separated from relatives and loved ones.
Although Christmas can be a joyful time of the year, filled with festivities, food, parties and time with loved ones. For some people, it can also be one of the hardest times of the year.
Christmas can bring about feelings of obligation and over-commitment to social plans. Some people may experience loneliness and isolation. Others may find the disruption to their routines destabilising so please reach out to your trans friends, ask them how they’re feeling, how they’ll be spending Christmas Day, and offer them the opportunity to celebrate with other people if you can.
