Sackville Gardens, which is just across from Canal Street, was once again the focus of Sparkle on Saturday afternoon.
This year we had some 20 stalls/stands in the park, from support groups, TG businesses and others. A mini volleyball tournament took place before the live performances on stage. The winners were the Manchester Concord team - congratulations to them!

The Sparkle show will be presented by Chelsea Darling
Chelsea Darling is a Hostess, DJ and PA both on the LGBT and straight club scene. She has worked for clubs and bars up and down the UK and in Europe. Chelsea has also worked at massive outdoor events with big stars like KATIE PRICE and has been on stage with the girls from MYSTIQUE. Her friends include glama model and now music star SAM FOX, LIZ MCCLARNON (atomic kitten) and KELLY LORRENA (ntrance) set you free! We are very pleased that she is making the trip up from London to support the Sparkle event and the TG community! |

Sparkle 2009 welcomes back Samantha Eames, classically trained pianist, guitarist, bass player, trombone player, songwriter, producer and vocalist secured her first solo instrumental release on Good Looking Records in the year 2000. She has since been a major contributor to the underground pop duo Patrick and Eugene, featuring countless session and writing credits on their last two albums released on Tummy Touch Records. Samantha is also the other half of newly formed acoustic duo Roseate Cerulean and has worked as a multi-instrumental session musician on numerous underground projects.

We are delighted to welcome back the lovely Gloria who has performed at Sparkle previously. Gloria has been a professional performing musician for many years, toured Europe and the States with various bands and released nine solo albums as well as other collaborative recording projects. Last year she released her first cd as Gloria "Living For Me" which celebrates TG life from various angles. She has also acted and written music for film and stage.

2009 sees the first Sparkle performance by Natalie B. She is a composer and musician who writes songs and instrumental rock music to reflect her feelings and life experiences. She is also a post-operative transsexual woman. She has performed her music many times since 2004 and has received glowing reviews from music critics. Her music can be both listened to and downloaded for free by visiting her website at www.natalie-bk.com and her first album 'Rock & Roll En Femme' is also available on line or at live performances

We are also very pleased to welcome back Debbie Roberts who is a semi-professional singer working the circuit in venues across Manchester and the North West and has appeared in Europe and the Caribbean. She presents her own radio shows and has appeared in many theatrical productions too. She is Chairperson of the UniqueTG group based in North Wales and she will be the Compere, Cabaret and DJ at our Friday night Chinese Banquet Meal at Sparkle. |
